A great project for giving stranded knitting a try (no worries about fit!), the Godric Cowl requires approximately 410 yards of a main color (MC) and 100 yards each of three contrasting colorways (CC). Use a full skein of the main color, and any partial skeins of yarn you may have hanging around for the contrasting colors.
It is worked by first casting on stitches with a provisional cast on, and knitting in the round following color charts. The end of your knitting is then grafted to the cast on stitches using the Kitchener Stitch.
$5.00 per pattern
The cowl measures to 6.5” wide and 50” in circumference/length.
25.5 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stranded colorwork.
1 skein each of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light (420 yards/skein) in Silverfox (MC), Iris (CC1), Dahlia (CC2), & Magenta (CC3). Pattern uses approximately 100 yards of each CC, and 410 yards of the MC.
Alternate colorways (shown in th elarger photo) are: Gilded (MC), Clematis (CC1), Dahlia (CC2), and Violin (CC3).
